Description

The Water Pollution Control Law obligates businesses that emit 50 m3 or more per day of wastewater or that are subject to the wastewater quality standards, to conduct water quality inspections at a frequency determined by the amount of wastewater emitted. Using a triangular or rectangular weir, this weir type flowmeter accurately determines the amount of wastewater emitted by continuously measuring the hydraulic head.

This flowmeter may also be used for measuring the flow rate in water channel where the weir can be installed.

Construction

The detector has an original structure, in which a cylindrical compensating probe (guard probe) wrapped with a cylindrical function pattern electrode is protected by a plastic covering.

Principle

The hydraulic head of the weir (H) and the flowrate (Q) of the flowing wastewater are determined by the following formulae.

Using a capacitive function probe, this weir type flowmeter converts the capacitance that occurs due to changes in the hydraulic head directly into a standardized electrical signal proportional to the flow rate.

This model is composed of detector unit installed in water channel, transducer, relay power source and special cable that is 4 core control cable. As the transducer is designed to be installed in a dangerous area, the special cable can be made short enough to minimize picked-up noises, thus permitting a stable performance to be obtainable. As to performance, this model has the same characteristics as those of Model QBS-FM.
